BARRIO DE TUBAC |
|
WHERE ARIZONA BEGAN |
Barrio de Tubac is a thoughtfully designed community of 349 mostly wooded acres located in the high desert of Southern Arizona. (Over 200 acres of the community will never be developed, instead preserved in the natural setting just as it was over 250 years ago.) It was from this site in 1774 that Juan Bautista de Anza led an expedition resulting in the founding of San Francisco, California, two years later.
The many neighborhoods that make up the barrio are reminiscent of the days when the community was a Spanish Garrison. From the quaintness of the Bosque at the Barrio (town homes of distinction), to the elegance of Santiago, (Single family homes on the largest lots fronting the Anza National Historical Trail): the rich history and lush setting of Tubac combine to create one of America's finest communities. |
|
| THE NEIGHBORHOODS |
| The many neighborhoods that make up the Barrio are reminiscent of the days when the community was a Spanish garrison supporting the Presidio of Tubac. They include the quaintness of the Bosque at the Barrio, town homes of distinction by Dorn Homes; Trails Head uniquely designed patio homes by Tubac Homes; the elegance of Santiago single family homes by Dorn Homes and the rich heritage embodied in The Embarcadero town home community (coming late 2005). The sense of history and community these neighborhoods bring is as real as the time honored setting in which they reside. |
|
| PRESERVING THE FUTURE |
| In the heart of this community is the newly restored "Parque de Anza" which first opened in the mid 1700's. As the Town Square, it is a place for simple reflection and time passing as well as fiestas, concerts, a farmer's market and other wonderful happenings. |

| THE BUILDERS |

TUBAC HOMES |
| The company is locally owned and operated by residents of the Tubac Valley who have been in the local real estate construction, management, sales and development business since the 1970's. "A passion for quality" ...aptly describes their approach to building. |

| WHERE ART AND HISTORY MEET |
Tubac was established in 1752 as a Spanish presidio (fort). Working artists' studios now surround the grounds which once served as the home for a Spanish military garrison.
Tubac rests along the Santa Cruz River where high desert scenery mixes with a lush riparian cottonwood forest. The results make this location an exceptional one for birders seeking many of Southern Arizona's lesser observed birds. Of special interest for birders is the Anza Trail, which winds a leisurely pace fromthe Tubac Presidio State Historic Park through the cottonwoods on its way to the Tumacacori National Historic Park, just three miles south.
The village enjoys a year-around economy that benefits from summer temperatures notably cooler than Tucson or Phoenix. More than ninety businesses now line Tubac's meandering streets, and a full day can be enjoyed wandering through the numerous art galleries, working studios and gift shops. |
