Historic Districts- Central
Armory Park Historic District
Located west of Stone Avenue between 12th and 19th streets; developed in the late 1800's by the Southern Pacific Railroad, this residential area features Queen Anne Victorian and Spanish Colonial architecture.
Barrio Historico Historic District
The oldest city in the area is located south of Cushing Street between Stone Avenue and the railroad offer more than 150 Adobe homes.
Fort Lowell District
In the heart of Tucson this historic district features authentic mud Adobe style & Territorial homes. Historians and anthropologists helped to preserve the past by establishing this area as a historic landmark with the State and National Historic Places.
Pie Allen Neighborhood
This historic neighborhood is north of Armory Park and south of 6th street between Park and 6th Avenue. This residential area is named after John Bracket (Pie) Allen, a pie salesman who laid claim to the land for rail road workers. The area features Territorial and Adobe homes.
Sam Hughes Neighborhood
The boundaries for this unique historic district include Speedway, Broadway, Campbell, and Country Club Road. 1930's style architecture features Territorial, Adobe, and bungalows with arched ceilings and hard wood floors. Close proximity to the University of Arizona.
Tanque Verde
Located in the foothills of the Rincon Mountains just east of Tucson bordered by the Saguaro National Park and Coronado National Forest. Home prices range from $250,000 to over million dollar properties. This area is characterized by upscale homes, ranchettes, and view lots.
Surrounding Communities
Catalina
Created in the 1950's Catalina is located 25 miles North of Tucson and offers great mountain views, horseback riding trails, and hiking trails. Catalina is 1,000 feet higher than the city of Tucson which means temperatures are 5 to 10 degrees cooler and receives more rain. A growing community features new housing developments from 170's to the high 300's. Some of the new subdivisions are Eagle Crest, Black Horse Ranch, and Saddlebrook (a retirement community).
Marana
Marana offers 116 square miles of residential, commercial and recreation with a large variety of newer home developments. Continental Ranch, Gladden Farms, and Dove Mountain feature 3 golf courses, recreational facilities, and Marana Northwest Regional Airport. Marana has been prime farmland and featured the first cattle ranches.
Oro Valley
A small town atmosphere, Oro Valley is a very popular Northwest community experiencing tremendous growth with over 32,500 residents. Oro Valley has 3 country clubs, 5 golf courses, La Cholla Airpark, resorts, new state of the art hospital, wonderful schools, excellent police and expanding business/retail opportunities.
The City of South Tucson
Noted for it's artistic murals located at the junction of Interstate 19 (Nogales Highway) and Interstate 10, one mile and a half south of downtown. South Tucson has some of the best Mexican restaurants in the city.
South Tucson
This region is Tucson's most affordable housing market geared toward the first-time home buyer with prices ranging from $100,000 to $500,000. Rita Ranch a master planned community, Civano-a unique community emphasizing energy efficiency, and Starr Pass an upscale golf course and resort destination located in the Tucson Mountains. Rancho Sahuarita, Butter Field Ranch, Rancho Del Lago, Mesquite Ranch, Santa Rita Estates, and Rancho Resort are among the new master planned communities.
Foothills
Tucson's most upscale area offers luxury homes with gorgeous mountain and/or city views. La Paloma and Ventana Canyon resort/country club golf communities, Skyline Country Club, Finnisterra, Cobblestone, and Pima Canyon. This spectacular community is located along the base of the Catalina Mountains just North of Tucson. School district of Catalina Foothills district 16.
